Gowran v St Canice's

It was 1.30pm last Thursday when the football panel girls came out of the dressing rooms to face Gowran. The starting players lined out. The referee threw in the ball and the battle commenced.

The force with which the Gowran team came out jolted the St. Canice’s team awake as their first match of the season began.

Great play from both sides, including a great save from St. Canice’s goalie, Kate, made the first half lightning fast for those watching (and playing!)

Quite a few points down but far from beaten, the St. Canice’s girls received a fiery team-talk from Mrs. Gannon and Mrs. Comerford. Pumped up and ready for more, the starting St. Canice’s team began the second half. With subs quickly put on, the whole team played very well together.

Two goals from Michaela Delaney and one from Eva Minogue put St. Canice’s within a goal’s distance of equalizing. The girls were poised and ready to strike again when the referee blew the full-time whistle, leaving the final score St. Canices 3-3, Gowran 3-6.

My “man of the match”? The entire St. Canice’s team! Well deserved too!
