Ignore the scoreboard!
We played our second match in the Roinn A league today in sunny James Park. To look at the final score, one would think that this was an easy win, but the half time score was 0-4 to 0-2 in our favour, and the game in this half was really competitive. Indeed, it was only on the introduction of Adam Cimmins and Sean Boyd in the fourth quarter that we stretched the score , with both men scoring a brace of goals each.
The standard of hurling in the first half was excellent. The pitch was dry but quite bumpy, and the level of skill displayed by both teams was a joy to witness. We began by scoring the first three points in the early exchanges. All 3 scores were beautifully executed by Harry Duggan, Joe Sheehan and Mark Nolan, and Harry added another before half time to leave the score 0-4 to 0-2.
In the second half, we began to win much more possession. Our half back line of Peter Collins, Brian Cleere and Liam Brennan were unbeatable. Harry Duggan and Johnny Manogue worked tirelessly at midfield. All forwards played well. They had more possession today than they would have most days. Our full back line had little to do, but they did it well.
