Nuncio Rd
St. Canices B 4-1 Gaelscoil B 0-3
In round 2 of the Roinn C league, we secured our first two points with a well deserved win over Gaelscoil on a sweltering afternoon in Nuncio Rd.
We dominated possession in the first half and should really have led by much more than 2-0 to 0-1 at half time. Both goals were well worked, the first coming from Jack Connolly after good attacking play from Johnny Collins, and the second from Jay Meagher after good work from Connolly.
In the second half, seven substitutes were introduced, and two of these played major roles in securing our two second half goals. Both scores were finished by the impressive Richard Duggan, and both assists were provided by the equally impressive Tommy Farrell. (Both Tommy, and the teak tough Mark Power are fourth class lads).Kevin Walsh, who had played really well at wing back, scored our only point of the day when reintroduced at wing forward.
Today’s highlights:
Point blank saves from David Campion
Massive puck outs from Kieran Galvin
Classy touches from mid-fielder Evan Clarke
Good work from Blake Smith in the second half
Kevin Cleere doing really well at wing back when he came on.
