In Gowran

Gowran 6-10 Canices 1-1

In round 4 of the Roinn C league, we came out second best to a good Gowran side in sunny Gowran today. Having the advantage of the wind in the first half, we trailed 2-4  to 1-1 at half time. It was always going to be an uphill struggle in the second half.
In truth these sides would have been very evenly matched were it not for two very strong Gowran lads, namely Ted Drea at centre back and Michael Carey at centre forward. They were the driving force behind the opposition, and we found it impossible to cope with them.
We did have lots of fine performers in our own ranks as well, none better than Philip Obisanya in midfield. He was outstanding and scored a great long distance goal in the first half. Our other score came from a free converted by Tommy Farrell.
Today’s bright spots:
David Campion in goal
Stephen Cass defending well at corner back
Kevin Walsh doing great at curbing CareyDavid Campion
Stephen Cass Kieran Galvin Conor Cantwell
Kevin Walsh Lee McEnroe Kevin CleerePhilip Obisanya Mark PowerJohnny Collins Blake Smith Evan Clarke
Richard Duggan Jack Connolly Tommy Farrell On the back pitch, another “battle” was taking place, where a Mr. Hoyne selection took on a Mr. Lester Ryan selection. Those who took part in this game were:
Kevin Power, Shane McGeary, T.J. Stynes, Jay Meagher, Eoin O Mahony, Charlie Buckley, Eamon Morrissey and Conor O Mahony.. Many of these lads battled on both fields today.
