Presidential Visit
President McAleese will be in our school from 11.30 until 12.15. At our staff meeting after school last Tuesday, we agreed that our main priority for the day is to ensure that every child gets to see the President and that as many as possible are involved in activities for her. To that end, we have chosen for our three focal points in the school-a sports presentation, a Green Flag/Gairdin na Scoile presentation and a Junior Music Presentation. The Senior Choir and Orchestra will perform in the hall, where the President will address the older pupils and invited guests from the school community. Any of the pupils not involved in the above activities will form a guard of honour. In this way, everyone should be actively involved and go home with memories of the day they “met” the President. All classes are contributing art work to the display in the hall. We will accommodate as many children as practically possible in the hall starting with 6th class pupils. Invited guests will be people who work with the school and people with community links to the school. Parents will be represented by members of the Parents’ Association and the Parents’ Music Committee and there will be a draw in each class for one parent to be invited. Please return the form below tomorrow, Friday, if you would like to be included in that draw and are available on the day. If your name comes out your invitation will be sent home on Friday afternoon. This is an exciting occasion for the school . Thank you to all the staff who are putting such energy and effort into planning and preparing the day to ensure that all goes well. The Board of Management have decided to allow the school to close at 12.45 in celebration of the special event. All pupils must be in full school uniform next Wednesday. Tracksuits may be worn on Monday and Tuesday to keep uniforms clean.
Staff Meeting
We had scheduled a staff meeting for the following Wednesday. After reflecting on the matter, we feel that as it is the midterm break week and secondary students are free, it would be less disruptive to stick to this original plan than to move the meeting to after the break. Accordingly, the school will close for pupils at 12 noon on Wed. 21st Feb. The usual supervision of yard till 12.15 will apply
