Bicycle Rack

The bicycle rack has finally arrived. Thanks to Ms Renehan in Loreto who donated  spare racks to us. These are now in place between Bernie’s office and the Resource prefabs. All bikes must be kept there.
Book Grant
To be eligible to take part in the book rental scheme which is grant-aided by the Dept. of Ed. and Science a family must qualify under one of the following three criteria: 1.Dependent mainly on social welfare, 2. Low incomes from employment, 3. Financial hardship because of particular circumstances.  An application form for next year has been sent to any existing participating family. If you are entitled to apply to join the scheme and have not received a form please call into Bernie in the office and fill one in.
Gairdin na Scoile
Help is required this Saturday morning at 10.00 am for Gairdin na Scoile.  Ms O’Brien andMalcolm hops to complete the work in the garden by lunchtime. Your assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Skipathon
Time to dust off your skipping ropes!
We have decided to participate in the Irish Heart Foundation Skipathon this year. We will run it similar to a No Uniform Day where each child pays 2 euro to participate.  A draw can then be held in each class and the winner’s name will go on the sponsorship card for that class.

Sport
Congratulations to the Girls’ Football team who won their final on Saturday in Nowlan Park. They played a fantastic match and captain Lucy Sherwin also won Player of the Match as awarded by the County Board. The panel was Aisling Hennessy, Rebecca Knox, Sarah Hennessy, Ciara Conefry, Niamh Browne, Elaine McGeary, Alex Horan, Danielle Kealy, Orla Hanrick, Emma Phelan, Lucy Sherwin, Nicole Kennedy,  Eva Maher, Muireann Brennan, Louise Kenny, Bronagh Walsh, Larissa Constantin, Jennifer Enright, Niamh Tynan, Aoife Butler, Chantelle Walsh, Ciara Tyrrell, Rachel Bawle, Pamela Brennan

Camogie training is in full swing at the moment. The training schedule is as follows:
Every day luchtime-4th,5th/6th
  Mon/Tues---3rd class.
Tues/Friday---2nd class.
Two teams are at present playing in the schools’ competitions. The A panel have recorded two wins to date and the B panel had a great victory over Clogh last Friday.

Hurling leagues are also in full swing with three teams entered in competition. All classes from 2nd to 6th are also participating in the local Class Leagues.

All the above demands a huge time commitment and dedication from staff and I thank all the members of staff who give so generously to provide our pupils with such a wide range of  sporting opportunities.

Easter Raffle

Many thanks to all who helped make a success of the Easter Raffle-those who donated prizes and those who sold tickets. 3,796 euro was raised. A list of prize winners is displayed in the school. Congratulations to them all.
