Information Sheet Sept. 07
Staff Meeting: Friday Sept. 15th All Pupils finished 12 noon.
Fáilte romhaibh ar ais aris. Time for new beginnings as everybody settles into work and activities again. If your child is having problems now or at any time during the year please let us know sooner rather than later.
A particular welcome to our new Junior Infants, many of whom have already featured on the local newspapers and pupils, both Irish and from abroad, who have moved into the parish and joined the older classes. Céad Mile Fáilte
Attendance:
Our general attendance rate is 96%, but by the end of last year quite a number of children had clocked up absences of over 20 days. Many of these were genuine reasons but some were not. To remind you—all absences of over 20 days must be officially reported to the N.E.W.B. and also any cases of persistent absenteeism. This does not mean that a child is entitled to take 20 days off-they are obliged to be in school every day. So please do your best to have your child in school and contact us if there are any problems. It is your child who misses out when time is missed. If you regularly collect your child early from school this is also considered as absenteeism.
Sports
The annual cross country primary schools competition is scheduled for Sept. 18th in the castle Park. Mr Hanrick will be making arrangements for this.
Girls’ camogie training has re-commenced for 4th,5th and 6th and all are welcome.
We are awaiting the arrival of the hurlers with the McCarthy Cup.
General
The children have been told which doors to use entering and exiting the school. Please co-operate with this arrangement as it is in the safety interest of your children to do so.
We are extremely lucky to have the use of James Park during playtime. We are indebted to the Kilkenny Agricultural Society for their generosity in allowing us to use this invaluable facility.
All children availing of the facility must change their footgear entering and leaving the park and treat it with respect at all times.
Teacher News
We are delighted to have Ms Bolger and Ms O’Connor and Ms Gleeson (resource), who will both be joining us shortly, appointed as permanent members of staff. Ms Siobhan Kelly returns as 2nd class teacher , Ms Lavelle as Resource/Homework Club and Mr Lennon(4th) will be joining us on Sept. 24th as 1st class teacher for the year.
