Silver Circle
Silver Circle cards have gone out today. One card per family has been given out. Oldest/only child takes the card. Please support this draw as it is our largest fundraiser of the year. The first draw will take place on November 4th. We expect every family to contribute, as the money is spent on educational equipment and ventures for the children. All cards must be returned to the class teacher whether fully sold or not. Feel free to request extra cards! A full list of winners will be announced each week and published on the website www.stcanices.net

Email Addresses
A last reminder to send your email address by Friday 22nd to stcanicesnotes@gmail.com, with your youngest child’s name in the subject line, if you wish to receive Info Sheets by email. This system will be in operation after the midterm.

Gairdín na Scoile
Four pumpkins survived the growing season. One has been given to Ms Conroy’s class to raffle, as a thank you for their work in the garden. The other three went to Ms Tallis’ class who originally sowed the pumpkin seeds.
Thanks to Brendan O’Sullivan who is keeping the flagpole flower bed up to date.

Sport
Gaelic Football
Two teams were entered in the Boys Primary Schools’ League. The Roinn A team have reached the semi-final stages and will play after Halloween.
The Girls’ team have played Thomastown and Gowran and have performed well but have yet to register a win.
The final of the boys’ lunch time league takes place tomorrow and also the final of the girls’ 5th and 6th class lunchtime league.

Other Activities
As part of their preparation for confirmation, 6th class have planted a Daffodil Maze at the Freshford Rd. side of the school. They hope to sell the daffodils for Daffodil Day and the Home Care team in the Spring.
The classes from Senior Infants up, visited the Army barracks on their recent Open Day. A great time was had by all and the children were shown great courtesy, kindness and patience by our defence force members.
Mayor Martin Brett donated 15 circus tickets to the school. These were won by Paul O’Dwyer in Ms Carley’s class, for excellent work. Paul and some of his classmates and friends enjoyed a marvellous night out at the circus.

Set Down Area
Reminder: please keep entrance and exit to this area clear at all times. It is working extremely well apart from the occasional blockage which brings everything to a complete halt. A traffic flow map will be included with the next Info Sheet.
