School Carol Service
We invite you all to attend our annual Carol Service in the hall on Thursday 21st. All classes and children take part. Your class teacher will tell your child what part to dress as and they will be rehearsing their lines over the next fortnight. As usual, we will collect non-perishable food items for the needy as part of our preparation for our carol service. Items will be collected from all classes by Ms O’Brien’s pupils on a daily basis.

Shoe Boxes

Thanks to all who contributed to this appeal the Christmas morning of 525 children will be brightened up with a shoe box full of goodies and the knowledge that somebody cares. Thanks to Sr. Brigid for organising the collection.

Sports

Míle chomhghairdeas le foireann peil na buachaillí. They won the Roinn A county final against a game Gaelscoil side. This extends the run to 5 in a row which equals the record set by St. Patrick’s from 1978-1982. The panel consisted of Sean Hennebry, Sean Butler, Rory Glynn, George Greene, Marc Cudmore, Eoin Fennelly, Thomas Carroll, Shane O’Brien, Robbie Slater, Stephen Farrell, Eoin Gough (Capt.), Jimmy O’Grady, Jason Hennessy, Diarmaid Hickey, Jack Cleere, Kevin Kenny, Darragh Holohan, Aidan Walsh, Paddy Boyd, Cian Hogan, Peter McPhillips, Enda O’Donohue, David White, Eric Duffy, Frank Nolan.
Thank you to Mr Hanrick and Mr Crowley who have trained these boys day in day out over the last number of years and to Mr Lacey, Mr Hoyne and Mr Murphy who have now joined in the extra-curricular field activities. This goodwill and dedication is invaluable to our school and to your children and we are most grateful to them.
Fairtrade
In conjunction with a competition run by Kilkenny County Council all classes in the school are participating in a Fairtrade project. The aim is to promote the fair-trade idea throughout the school and community. Some of the activities being undertaken are

  • Watching Fairtrade video
  • Map-making
  • All parents are invited to come and sample a complimentary cup of Fairtrade tea/coffee and some nibbles in Ms Kissane’s room tomorrow between 1.30pm and 2.30-pm. Thanks to Ms Cummins and 6th class who are organising this and to Ms Gannon and Ms Kissane who are co-ordinating the Fairtrade project.

Gairdín na Scoile

Work is still ongoing in our garden. Along with Malcolm Noonan, Ms Conroy’s 5th class planted the fruit trees two weeks ago. Pathways and groundwork will be finished in the spring with the help of parents from Ms O’Brien’s class.
We would like to put down a wooden bird table. It would be much appreciated if a “handy” creative parent could make or donate one to the school. Please contact Ms O’Brien -Room 9
