President McAleese visits St Canice's |
| In November 2006 President McAleese paid a visit to our school. Firstly she visited the sports section of the school where, accompanied by Diarmuid Hickey a sixth class pupil, she was introduced to the hurling, football, camogie, swimming and handball teams who very proudly showed her the medals they had won for the school .Then she visited the junior section of the school where she was treated to a feast of music and dance. Afterwards she viewed the Garden Project and was very impressed with all the hard work and effort shown there. She made her way then to the Hall where a crowd of 300 children and over 100 parents greeted her. The orchestra played a number of pieces for her and the school Senior Choir sang John Rutter's 'The Lors Bless You and Keep You' She was quite taken back by the amount of talent on show in the school. She warmly addressed the children and thanked them for a lovely visit before leaving to visit the Good Shepherd Centre in the parish |
